Hackathon to compete with UniBS

On Friday, April 20, a hackathon was held at the Gulliver headquarters with the collaboration of Rise (Research & Innovation for Smart Enterprises) of the University of Brescia. A positive and formative experience that saw the protagonists of the students of the Faculty of Engineering together with the professionals of Gulliver who, with the support of a moderating teacher, formed three working groups with different themes.

After the presentations, a substantial break opened the creative day. The objective of each group is ambitious: to create a mobile app that works in 8 hours.

To achieve the goal, the Agile methodology was used and Gulliver’s MDC development platform was used. The students had the task of concretizing the idea linked to the topic assigned with the help of the university facilitator; the application was then carried out by the Gulliver professionals present in the various groups, thanks above all to the contribution of a developer and a designer.

Each group presented the other applications to the others that followed the themes indicated: Event Management: the solution allows you to select from a list of events that are proposed to the user, register, receive notifications, consult a series of other useful information of the event; there is also the possibility of interacting with the organization, the speakers, answering questionnaires and giving feedback. Similarly, the organizer has at his disposal a web console able to manage the event program, upload content, view the list of subscribers, send notifications to users who have downloaded the app.

Project accounting: the App is designed to be integrated into a project or production cycle plan, in order to help the operator to carry out the interventions he performs in the simplest and most effective way. Once he has identified himself, he can declare the beginning and end of an activity, manage various types of causes, selecting the relative production orders / orders on which he works; some aspects that facilitate the adoption of the App by the operators have also been considered, as well as the collaborative relationship between workers and managers has been improved.

Conscious washing machine: the App is structured on a series of questions aimed at users who own or use a washing machine, allowing them to collect and enhance certain parameters relating to water and energy consumption, the frequency of washing, the type of washing machine used ( energetic class). By processing this data, the App defines the user profile, giving information on the environmental impact, consumption and costs, providing useful indications aimed at improving these aspects.

At the end of the day a specially created jury evaluated the proposed solutions, rewarding the one that was judged the best. In addition to the professionals of Rise, members of the board of directors of the Mutti company were also present in the jury.
