Virtual Badge Vodafone Procure & Connect

A virtual badge to revolutionise access to workspaces

The Client

Vodafone Group is one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, with a strong international presence and a constant focus on innovation.
As part of the Vodafone Procure & Connect program and the collaboration with Tomorrow Street, the company is driving the digital transformation of workplace environments, experimenting with solutions capable of improving efficiency, security, and user experience.

The Challenge

Vodafone’s need was clear:

👉 simplify access to corporate premises, reduce dependence on physical badges, optimize accreditation processes, and ensure a higher level of security.

The traditional badge system involved:

  • complex and costly management of physical devices;
  • frequent loss and replacement of badges;
  • the need to provide a smoother experience for employees and visitors;
  • the potential to extend the technology to additional services for customers and partners.

Vodafone was therefore seeking a modern, intuitive solution that could integrate with its systems and open new business opportunities.

The Solution

Gulliver Luxembourg, in collaboration with HID Global, developed a fully digital Virtual Badge integrated into the smartphones of Vodafone staff at the Luxembourg offices.

The solution combines:

  • HID Mobile Access technology for secure digital credential management;
  • native integration with the internal access control system;
  • an optimized mobile app for immediate and frictionless use;
  • a scalable architecture designed to support new use scenarios.

The badge thus becomes part of the company’s digital ecosystem: a single tool for accessing buildings and, in the future, for interacting with multiple internal and external services.

How It Works

The user receives a digital credential on their smartphone.

To access the workspace, it is enough to:

  • Bring the smartphone or smartwatch close to the reader

The system uses:

  • NFC,
  • secure authentication with HID encryption,
  • real-time permission validation.

Staff can move easily and quickly, while administrators have full control over authorizations from a single centralized console.

Results Achieved

The solution, already deployed at Vodafone’s offices in Luxembourg, has delivered concrete benefits:

Improved user experience
Fast, convenient access without physical badges or queues.

Reduced operational costs
Elimination of physical cards, fewer replacements, and lower maintenance.

Enhanced security
Encrypted digital credentials, immediate revocation, and access tracking.

Scalability toward new services
The system can evolve toward future use cases such as:

  • meeting room access,
  • parking and restricted areas,
  • onboarding solutions,
  • digital services dedicated to Vodafone customers.
